The upcoming Halloween Investigation at the Catfish Plantation in Waxahachie looks to be a real Spookapaloosa. Texas Spirit Seekers and The Catfish Plantation are teaming up to raise money for CASA of Ellis County. You may be wondering, what is CASA? Whenever a child enters the foster care system because his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to help them. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA. CASA programs are non-profit organizations that recruit, train and support volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in foster care. CASA volunteers help guide these children through the foster care system to safe, permanent homes.
We at TSS agreed with the owners of the Catfish Plantation, that a major portion of the funds raised from the sale of raffle tickets would be donated to the CASA organization. The winners of the ghost hunting raffle will be able to become a part of the TSS investigative team for the evening and participate in the collection of evidence that will help us confirm the clams of paranormal activity at the restaurant. Following the review of the evidence, a report and a CD of any evidence of interest, will be mailed to each of the winners.
Some of the TSS members will be at The Catfish Plantation for dinner on Thursday, Oct. 30th and the whole team will be there on Friday, Oct. 31st. So come join us for dinner and ghost stories at the Catfish Plantation, you won't be sorry, I think they have the best catfish I have ever had and a cobbler that is to DIE for!
The human brain has the capability of taking random shapes and organizing them into recognizable forms, causing us to see faces in clouds, smoke, windows, rocks, tree bark, chocolate, toast and other objects. Not only can we see recognizable things in random patterns in a wall, our mind uses past experiences and imprints them on current activity. An example might be someone driving late at night, In the distance they see what looks like a rabbit in the road. As they get closer the rabbit takes shape and looks more and more like a rabbit, but as they drive by the rabbit they thought was there turns out to be a beer can, bottle or a piece of cardboard. This phenomenon is used by goose hunters when they use white rags to hunt over in a field. At a distance the rags flutter and look like a snow goose, the goose sees a field full of geese until it's too late and the goose ends up on the dinner table. I believe a great deal of paranormal investigators fall victim to pareidolia either during an investigation or following an investigation when the hard work of analyzing photos and looking over all of the video footage has begun. Fatigue, the investigators personal beliefs and in some cases the want of a location to be haunted, play a role in this phenomenon. I have been to a number of investigations throughout the state of Texas, where the owner of a property pulls out a book of photos taken by their patrons showing evidence of paranormal activity. About 90% of these photos have very normal explanations, from a curtain that seems to be a figure in the window, a demon on the wall or even a Jesus on a piece of toast.
WOW!That’s what I have to say after leaving the Belleview Biltmore Hotel in Clearwater Florida following the 1st Annual TAPSCON. The TAPSCON Paranormal Conference was held on Saturday July 19th and Sunday July 20th, with most VIP’s checking in on Friday July 18th.
TSS Co-Founder Lance and his family attended TAPSCON in Florida. We have uploaded a few photos to our photo section and will be adding more in the next few days.
