The Fujifilm IS-1 Digital Camera is specially designed to photograph subjects in both normal visible light and in the near infra-red range (400nm-900nm). This makes it well suited for forensic or scientific applications as well as creative infra-red photography. The camera features Fujifilm's Super CCD HR sensor and Real Photo Processor, delivering IS0 1600 performance and enabling capture of crisp and clear images even in low light conditions. The camera's 10.7x (28-300mm 35mm equivalent) zoom lens incorporate aspherical elements that result in a sharper image and minimize distortion and aberrations. The lens is easily controlled via a manual zoom ring to give pinpoint accuracy when composing images. Furthermore, its fixed housing ensures that users do not have to contend with specks of dust or dirt collecting on the sensor. This can compromise image quality and is a drawback often associated with conventional digital SLRs. Image quality in the IS-1 has been enhanced through improvements to its processing algorithms, and composition of photographs is made easy with a two-inch tilting LCD monitor which provides clear, flexible shooting at awkward high or low angles. In addition, the camera has 0.01 second shutter-lag and 0.8 second start-up time, which means that images can be composed and captured almost instantaneously. Additionally, the high ISO performance helps to combat image blur caused by subject movement as well as camera shake.
This is one of those rare times when I will recommend a piece of equipment that stands out ahead of the digital camera pack. I have been testing this camera over the last couple of months and have found that it will outperform any other camera on the market when it comes to using it in paranormal investigations. The IS-1 has multiple modes, if you shoot during the day it will take normal shots, a little on the red side but for the most part they are normal photos. If you are into daytime investigations as I am, you can place 720nm, 850nm and 950nm filters over the lens to remove all visible light and take only IR photographs, basically turning day into a night situation. It has one other feature, Night Vision, I have added IR lights to the camera and shoot in the night mode and have all but eliminated dust/water orbs from my photos. If you still think there is something to orbs, other than those that generate their own light, you need to invest in one of these cameras; it will help you in forming opinions about orb activity, and yes I will say it, we think that 99.99999% of orb s is just junk in the air. Now I know you are going to want to know how much this camera is, I have seen it advertised online for as little as $549.00 and as high as $799.00, this is really a midrange in pricing on a good digital SLR. This is an exhalent price considering that the Fujifilm IS-Pro was selling for nearly $3000.00. So if you want a good camera, and more credible evidence, I would suggest picking one of these cameras up if your budget allows, you will be glad you did.
