The Julia Experiment

I have always had my doubts about haunted objects, dolls, chairs, beds and any other object were someone clams that there is a spirit or entity associated with it. Most of the time, I find that strange happenings are associated with normal phenomena not paranormal. During one of our investigations, I did find that there was some activity centered around a wicker love seat. Our team has been to the location on a number of occasions and we still have yet to explain why the simple wood and cane chair has an unexplained power source. With this in mind, I thought it would be interesting to see if we could purchase a clamed haunted object and run an experiment to see if we could validate the clams of paranormal activity. I hopped on the internet and located an antique porcelain doll that the seller clams to have paranormal activity associated with it. As always my hypothesis is that the doll is not haunted.

Background:

The following was captured from the sellers posting for this doll, I am not going to reveal where I purchased the doll nor the seller's name, it's not important who and where I got the doll but was it haunted as clamed.

Sellers Advertisement:

Let me start by saying that Fate has brought me to my current residence. I live next door to a cemetery. I have had a couple of very close losses so I am not un-nerved by moving so close to where one of them is buried. It's not the reason I moved here as I stated Fate played a big hand in my latter life. Life living so close to death has taught me many lessons. The daytime has taught me reverence for the grieving, although I must admit the military services still catches me off guard with their 21 gun salute. The evenings are enchanting when the place turns into a neighborhood park with walks and bike rides. It's a very peaceful place at sun set. Once darkness falls however, I am reminded once again this is the place of the dead and lost souls do roam at night. I've been outside at night and have heard the screams. I've seen un-believable things happen in the middle of the night. Since the cemetery literally ends at a dead end road many cars end up not knowing how to get out. Some of them have had to be towed out. One Halloween night a little red car some how ended up perched on the wall trying to exit out of the cemetery. All I can say about that incident is she messed around on the wrong gravesite, my late husband's. So I know he is active over there if provoked. I've been studying over the past few years on how to calm our neighbors down a bit, especially the screamer and that has brought me to the haunted dolls. I've learned that lost spirits can and do attach themselves to these dolls. It all started as just an experiment to see if this would indeed happen, sure enough the stories are true. The collection has grown a bit out of control and some of the dolls have expressed that they are ready to move beyond where their bodies lie. So, I offer you a chance to interact with some of my neighbors. With over 42 truly haunted dolls in our home it's hard to state whom is doing what activities. Here's what we've come to live with the collections in our home. Lights flicker on and off. Humming and clicking sounds when the house is quiet. Objects come up missing are and usually found in the most unexpected places. Strange fragrances are sometimes smelled in the house. And then for some of us a bit faint of heart we have seen apparitions on three separate occasions by my husband and me. These are seen as dark cloud-like forms and they move very quickly. Much too quickly to have ever been caught by a camera from our experience. Oh and one other thing we can clearly see is with certain "spirit dolls" is expression changes on the doll's face.

Julia is an active spirit of a 16 year old that loves to play games to let you know she's around. Her latest game is playing with the trunk of my car. While it's parked for no apparent reason the trunk lid will pop open all on its own. I mentioned it to my husband one evening and I heard Julia giggle and remembered her fascination with cars. After about 6 months of study on Julia I have found that she has always been the life of the party. She had just gotten her driver's license shortly before her death and loved to drive her friends around town. She was not able to own a car in her short life but always dreamed of having a ‘69 Camaro. Julia is very friendly with the other spirit girls and loves pets. One of the animal spirits has claimed this little white teddy bear and has become Julia's best friend. She and Kitty are so close I have decided to include her in this auction. She calls her "Kitty" and is the only one that can communicate with her.

The Seller

Upon receiving the clamed paranormal doll I checked it for damage. The doll seemed to be in very good shape. I placed the doll on a table and let the clamed spirit settle into the area. I would be setting up an experiment of sorts utilizing some of our new monitoring equipment within a week of receiving the item. The doll will be passed to each one of our team members for 2 week visits. We want to see if there is any activity detected between investigators, location may have an effect on the item.

Personal Experiences:
When the doll arrived at my home, I unboxed it and placed it in the center of an upstairs table. Our dog looked very uneasy and began to bark at the doll. It was apparent that the dog did not like the doll at first. She still has issues when she is in the same room with it but has calmed down a little. No other experiences other than that of the dogs.

Experimental Protocol:

The item in question was placed in the center of a large table. The EC meter was set up and the detection loop was placed at a distance of 12 inches from the doll and completely surrounded it. A modified KII meter was placed next to the doll. The laptop computer was set up to record off of the Mini Box utilizing adobe audition to capture the recording. The Mini Box was set next to the computer and a stereo microphone was connected to the box, the microphone was places under the dolls arm. A hand held audio recorder was placed next to the computer, a stereo microphone was connected and the microphone was placed under the dolls other arm for EVP recording. Both a Sony digital camera and an ICI Thermal camera were used to record the experiment. Temperature, Humidity and Dew Point data loggers were used to collect data during the experiment. A Fujifilm IS1 multispectral camera was used to collect photographic data throughout the duration of the session. All of the instrumentation was started for simultaneous data collection. Following the EVP and Box session all instruments were shut down and all data was downloaded onto the computer for analysis.

Discussion:

Following a 2.5 hour experimental session with the doll named Julia and reviewing all data collected, I have no evidence that would confirm that the doll is haunted. This, of course, is just the first in a line of sessions that will be carried out by the TSS investigative team. I will be holding the doll for another week and then will pass it to the next team member. This will be an ongoing investigation for the next 6 months and I will fill a conclusion then. At this point it's not looking to good for Julia. We also have another haunted doll clam coming in a week or so and will start the investigation as soon as it arrives.
